BA CULTURAL BLOG: Enjoy your stay with BAC! From USA

My name is Kate and I am from Boston, Massachusetts. BA cultural arranged a human rights internship for me. I worked for 2 months with the Sub secretary for Human Rights for the city of Buenos Aires. I was placed with the Victims of Sexual Violence unit, but sought out work and experience within the areas of human trafficking and issues related to the disappearance of people during the last dictatorship, 1976-1983. I worked with a nice group of people who were kind and friendly. I found the internship to be quite broad, requiring more focus and direction. I believe there is much to learn within the field of human rights and it is important to have a focus and concentration area in order to make the most of the internship. The BA Cultural house is divided into a ‘home-stay’ and an international hostel. I lived in the international hostel with students from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, China and the United States. I enjoyed the cultural exchange, as I was looking forward to learning about other cultures and languages during my stay here. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city with countless activities, places to see and visit and people from all over the world to meet! Enjoy your stay with BAC!

Mi nombre es Kate y soy de Boston, Massachusetts. BA Cultural ha arreglado una pasantía en los derechos humanos para mí. Trabajé por 2 meses con la Subsecretaria de Los Derechos Humanos para la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Trabajé con el departamento de los Delitos Sexuales, pero fui a buscar más experiencia en las áreas de la trata de personas y los desaparecidos-detenidos (un tema que trata sobre la última dictadura, años 1976-1983). Trabajé con gente muy amable y simpática. La práctica era muy amplia, por eso recomiendo que sea más definida y enfocada la práctica porque el campo de los derechos humanos es muy amplio. Hay mucho para aprender sobre este tema, y por eso le conviene estar enfocado en lo que quisiera aprender. La casa de BA Cultural está dividida en dos partes, una es de ‘home-stay’ y la otra parte es una hostal internacional. Viví en la hostal internacional con alumnos de Brasil, Colombia, México, China y los Estados Unidos. Disfruté el intercambio cultural, como esperaba aprender sobre culturas y lenguas distintas de las mía. La ciudad de Buenos Aires es hermosa con una cantidad innumerable de actividades para hacer, lugares para ver y visitar y gente de todo el mundo para conocer. Qué disfrute su estadía con BAC!
